Refugio Beach: Our Yearly Camping Getaway

Refugio Beach Camping

Two weeks ago I was on my own private beach cove, sipping champagne, eating filet mignon, and basking in the California autumn sun. Well, something close to that…something that felt like that. It was actually bottom shelf wine & a CostCo steak, but hey, who’s checking details?

We make it a point to head up to Refugio State Beach at least once a year. It’s one of those rare spots where the ocean feels like it’s just for you, even if the campground is full.

There is something restorative about disconnecting, even if just for a weekend. The sound of the waves crashing, the smell of the campfire (and burning marshmallows), and the complete lack of cell service (mostly) forces you to just be.

I definitely recommend it if you are in the area. Just book early, because spots fill up fast!
