Public Professes Pleasure at Predator Podcasts!
Well, that’s the praise I’d like to hear for the new podcast I helped implement at Predator Cycling four weeks ago.
Predator Cycling has been exploring new marketing and social media options to advertise their carbon repair services, custom bikes and components, and online apparel store. Beyond basic business marketing tactics, I suggested experimenting with a podcast that would highlight the shop employees and would be recorded every Friday around lunch time. Perhaps not the newest marketing concept, and more recently debated in the news due to the “patent troll” lawsuit with Adam Corolla, podcasts are an exceptionally easy and fun method to show customers the genuine people and personalities behind a small business.
So four weeks ago, I scrounged up basic materials needed to launch our newly conceptualized, very amateur, tongue and cheek, “Predator Feed Zone” podcast. Our talking points cover cycling “news, novelties, and nuances” (which is also our self-proclaimed branded opening introduction quote each episode).
Our first few episodes have definitely been a learning curve but as we continue, our comfort in front of the mic will develop and we’ll eventually take over the podcasting world. (Yes, the whole world) Our recording location is essentially the middle of Predator’s bike shop in Santa Monica, CA. We have what has been described as a “ghetto cast.” Utilizing an iPad, the podcast app BossJock, an already available Rode Shotgun mic, wood, and nails, we’ve created a pretty functional set-up. We actually have a super awesome Rode Podcaster mic in our Amazon shopping cart to alleviate all those munching and crunching noises you hear throughout our lunch! (Maybe we should nix Taco Friday’s and tasty chips….nah) Cycling sponsors are welcomed for funding our mic purchase, product giveaways, and general mayhem! Ahem *cough* *cough* Smile. Hand Shake. Also after episode 3 was posted, our applications to both iTunes Podcasts and Stitcher Radio (as well as RSS) were both accepted; a major stepping stone for Predator Feed Zone. We invite all readers and listeners to subscribe and share our crazy cycling chatter and opinionated truths and untruths. Speaking of, we’re working really hard on getting special guests including cycling coaches, riders, and officials. We’re definitely growing our reach and continually improving our sexy radio voices.
